Math Quiz #1: Journey to the Centre of the Earth
In Contest #1 you needed to guess how far we would be travelling on our trip around the world. A hint was given to you indicating that the circumference of the Earth at the equator was about 40,075 km. Assuming that the Earth was a perfect sphere, how far would you need to travel if you took a direct journey to the centre of the Earth from the Earth's surface? Hint: Do you remember your grade 8 geometry? The answer might also involve a number that sounds like Mom's home baking!

Maggie, Brad, Adam, and Erin,
ReplyDeleteGreat. You've already stumped me. My brain won't go there. I'm glad you all are smart enough to figure it out though.
